Why Introducing Your Preschooler to Charity Is Important

Why Introducing Your Preschooler to Charity Is Important at Kids 'R' Kids Greatwood, childcare, children, daycare

Leading by example is a great way to teach your children about charity. When we make giving a priority in our lives, it becomes a priority in our preschoolers’ lives too. Below are some ways you can practice charity with your preschooler:

Making Homemade Cards for People in Nursing Homes.

People who are living in nursing homes often appreciate getting mail, and children can brighten their day by making them a kind card.

Helping to Care for a Family Pet.

For families with pets, children can help take care of the pet by feeding it, walking it, or playing with it. If your family does not have a pet, perhaps your child could help care for the pet of an elderly neighbor or a family friend in need of a favor.

Volunteering at a Local Animal Shelter.

Animal shelters are always in need of volunteers to help care for the animals. This is a great way for children to learn about responsibility and compassion towards animals.

Donating Clothes or Toys to a Local Thrift Store.

Children often outgrow their clothes and toys quickly. Donating these items to a thrift store is a great way to help others, while also decluttering your family’s house.

Preparing Meals for a Family in Need.

Many families who are struggling financially cannot afford to make meals from scratch. Preparing a few meals ahead of time and freezing them can be a huge help to these families in your community. Allow your child to help with cooking these meals, and teach them kitchen skills along the way!

There are many ways for children to practice charity, and even the youngest children can make a difference in the lives of others. By leading by example and teaching children about the importance of giving back, parents and guardians can help create a generation of compassionate and caring people.
