Imagine if you and your preschooler were given a free trip to see the different animals from around the world! The following are different simple and inexpensive animal adventures that you can do with your preschooler while never leaving town!
Act Like an Animal
In advance of this activity, you or your child can think of different animals that can be found around the world. (Examples could include tigers, lions, kangaroos, etc.) Then, you can teach your child the different ways these animals move or act. For instance, you could teach your child how to stalk and pounce like a tiger. Your preschooler could jump and box like a kangaroo.
Provide Opportunities for Painting Projects
At a variety of stores, you can find small and inexpensive wooden animals for your child to paint. You can find animal painting options at craft stores, big box stores, and sometimes dollar stores. You could also print basic online animal templates. (If it is needed, the public library has printing access.) Your child can then paint on these templates. If painting is not an option, your child can use markers or crayons to work on these same animal templates.
Match Animal Sounds
You can utilize an internet search engine to let your preschooler hear the different animal sounds from around the world. Then, your child can attempt to match the sound with the right animal. You could guess the sounds, too, as your child repeats any sounds to you.
Take Advantage of the Library
The library will have a wide variety of kid-friendly animal books. Your child may enjoy choosing what animal to read about, or you may enjoy surprising them with the book options.
These are just a few ideas, but your child is sure to learn something new and exciting about animals from around the world!
