One of the best ways to teach children about charity is to lead by example. When parents or guardians act charitably, children are more likely to learn how important it is to help others. Here are some specific ways that you and your preschooler can practice charity:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Giving to a Food Bank or Soup Kitchen.\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Many families have food they can spare, just sitting in their pantry. Donating it to a local food bank or soup kitchen is a wonderful way to help those in need. Plus, it opens up a lot of cabinet space!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Collecting Donations for a School Supply Drive.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Every year, schools collect donations of school supplies for students who cannot afford them. Having your child help collect some folders, notebooks, and writing supplies to donate to the community will help them learn how important it is to help others that may need it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Helping to Clean up the Neighborhood.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Children can help pick up trash or rake leaves in their neighborhood as a way to make their community a cleaner and more pleasant place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
