The Georgia Early Learning Development Standards (GELDS) are used for lesson planning within the framework of the Creative Curriculum. The GELDS are a continuum of skills, behaviors, and concepts that children develop from birth to age 5. The continuum allows the classroom teacher to individually plan activities based on the development level of a child within each area of learning by introducing skills and concepts at the child’s current level and then moving the child forward. The GELDS support the growth of the whole child (physical development and motor skills; social and emotional development; approaches to play and learning; communication, language, and literacy; and cognitive development and general knowledge).
- Our classroom technology is second to none. We offer interactive whiteboards in our pre-kindergarten classrooms as well as computers in our 3- and 4-year-old classrooms. We also offer access to ABCMouse for our families in our 3-year-old through pre-kindergarten classes. This is a school- and home-based, multi-award-winning early childhood education website. The learning activities include reading, mathematics, science, social studies, art, and music. These activities correlate to our weekly lesson plans so that parents can help their children practice skills learned in the classroom.
