Summer is definitely here with the heat to prove it! There are so many fun activities to do, but summer safety should always be forefront in our minds. Here are some summer safety tips to help you and your preschooler have a fun and, most importantly, safe summer!<\/p>\n

Summer SAfety tip 1: Protect Against the Sun<\/h3>\n

Even on cloudy days, the sun\u2019s UV rays can be strong! Make sure your child wears sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher and reapply it frequently, especially if getting wet. Hats and long sleeves will help prevent sunburns, too! Protect your child\u2019s eyes by getting some sunglasses that block the UV rays.<\/p>\n

Summer SAfety tip 2: Stay Cool<\/h3>\n

Make sure your child drinks plenty of water and other liquids while playing outside in the summer to avoid dehydration and prevent overheating. Help your child find shade during the hottest hours of the day, 10am-4pm. Finally, take breaks and bring your child inside to cool off every so often!<\/p>\n

Summer Safety tip 3: Beware of Water<\/h3>\n

Whether your child has had swim lessons or not, never leave them alone near water! Floaties are a great option for your children who aren\u2019t confident swimmers, and goggles will help protect their eyes. Remind your child regularly not to run near water as to avoid slipping!<\/p>\n

Summer Safety tip 4: Avoid Bug Bites<\/h3>\n

Everyone hates itchy bug bites! Prevent mosquito and other bug bites by using bug spray. If you or your child hates the smell of traditional bug spray, look into a natural one that doesn\u2019t smell as intense and won\u2019t sting their eyes (Peppermint oil\/peppermint plants are a great natural pest repellent). Also, citronella candles do wonders for fending off mosquitos if you are spending time in your backyard!<\/p>\n

These safety tips are a great reminder for you and your child! Remind them enough and they might even start reminding you! Have a great summer!<\/p>\n
