Our Private Kindergarten program offers a variety of advantages for your child including a standards-based curriculum, engaging learning stations, SmartBoard technologies and many creative activities that get children excited to learn.<\/p>\n
Meet the Program<\/strong>: Here at Kids R Kids we follow the Lewisville ISD and Frisco ISD scope and sequence as well as adhere to national and state, TEKS, standards. We value learning through play as our Kindergarteners grow in their academic understanding.<\/p>\n \u2022 \u00a0Readers<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>Workshop:\u00a0<\/strong>Every child learns differently, that\u2019s why we have four different learning opportunities to discover and apply new reading skills: \u201cRead to Self\u201d, \u201cLearn Together\u201d, \u201cTable Work\u201d, and \u201cStations\u201d.<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0\u00a0Writers<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>Workshop:\u00a0<\/strong>Adapting the Lucy Calkin\u2019s Curriculum to fit the students at Kids R Kids, we make it our goal to help our students write daily. Students begin the year by writing stories about themselves and continue through the year by learning about nonfiction writing, making posters, making lists, writing book reports, and developing strong story lines.<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0Life Skills:\u00a0<\/strong>Unique to Kids R Kids, we learn a new life skill every month. Students will learn many things like tying their shoes, telling time, using money wisely, writing a letter, and how to take care of themselves.<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0\u00a0Handwriting:\u00a0<\/strong>We\u2019ve adopted the \u201cHandwriting Without Tears\u201dcurriculum to help teach our students accurate and neat penmanship. Every day they build on their fine motor skills to develop nice handwriting.<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0Science:\u00a0<\/strong>Discovery and investigations is the basis of the hands on science approach. Doing experiments, going on scavenger hunts, and exploring with their 5 senses students will observe and interact with the world around them.<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0Math Workshop:\u00a0<\/strong>Much like Readers\u2019Workshop, there are three different ways students learn during Math- \u201cLearn Together\u201d, \u201cTable Work\u201d, and \u201cStations\u201d. Students investigate different math strategies together, then break off into table groups and apply what they know on paper. Last they apply it again by playing learning games.<\/p>\n Children must be five years of age by September 1, 2018 to qualify for admission to the program this fall.
