How to be Kind to Humankind

How to be Kind to Humankind at Kids 'R' Kids Bella Terra, preschool, daycare, childcare

Be Kind to HumanKind week, which falls during the fourth week of August, is all about showing kindness and compassion and giving back to others. This is an incredibly valuable lesson to teach children and should be practiced year round, but this special week is the perfect opportunity to get a head start. Here are a few ways to teach your child what it means to be kind while giving back to your community together.

Neighborhood clean up

Clean up, clean up, everybody everywhere! Grab a few trash bags and gloves and head out the front door – it’s time to show some love to the environment. You can start on your street or visit a local park and pick up any litter you notice on the ground. People occasionally put the environment’s needs on the backburner, but mother nature needs kindness, too! With a little time spent cleaning up your neighborhood, your child will develop a love for nature and an understanding of the environment.

Spread the love

One easy way to show kindness in August is by writing letters to the people you love. If your child is too young to write, you can help him construct his very own letter. Grandparents, close neighbors, and best friends are all wonderful people to start with. You can bet this sweet, thoughtful gesture will bring so much joy to the special people in your life.

Give back

Brainstorm with your preschooler some ways to make a few dollars. Extra chores around the house, selling simple crafts to generous family and friends, or even accepting donations to your cause are all ways you can get a few extra dollars to pass on to one of your favorite charities.

There are endless ways to show kindness and help others, but these ideas make for a great start. Children are the future, which is why it is so important to teach them to care not only for others, but for the world we live in. Give one of these tips a try and continue showing kindness all year long!
