Positive Thinking Day with Your Preschooler

Positive Thinking Day

September 13th is celebrated as Positive Thinking Day. For adults, this can be a time to work on lowering anxiety and depression in the workplace or at home, but for a preschooler, it can be a lesson to experience the world with rose colored glasses and learn how to live life with a positive attitude. Here are three ways you can celebrate Positive Thinking Day with your preschooler:

Have a party!

Positive Thinking Day is just as deserving of parties as any other holiday. Having fun and laughing can reduce stress and decrease any urges to think negatively. Turn it into a dance party with your youngster for a chance at physical exercise that can boost endorphins and make everyone happier. Don’t forget that a party like this calls for cupcakes—pronto!

Explore inspirational quotes and books

Positive thinking is EVERYWHERE! Many bookstores include a Self-Helpsection, and while this area can include everything from psychology to creativity, take a quick look at the section on inspiration. You might find a selection of smaller books filled with positive, inspiring quotes. These books are quick to read in their entirety, but also make for little bite-sized passages you can take at any time with your preschooler. What’s more, you can find endless inspirational quotes on the internet superimposed over beautiful images with tasteful graphic design.

Perform random acts of kindness

Teach your preschoolers how to be kind while they’re young, and it will stay with them forever. People everywhere are trying to make the world a better place by performing random acts of kindness. These usually involve giving to people who don’t ask for or expect such a gift. A popular option is taping a small baggy of quarters to a vending machine so as to “pay it forward” and let the next person’s vending machine purchase be on you. Other activities you can do with your preschooler is writing an unexpected letter to a family member or friend, starting a quick fundraiser on social media for a cause that is important to you and your child, or making bagged lunches for the homeless.

Everything you can do with your child to help boost confidence and inspire happiness is the BEST way to celebrate Positive Thinking Day!
