The pandemic and the quarantining had brought families closer. There had been more family time. The unrushed lifestyle that many have become used to. For young children that was a lifestyle that they enjoyed. The younger the child the more normal that became. The separation tends to be more challenging for them. They are now trying to adjust to a different lifestyle away from their older siblings.<\/p>\n<p>We as parents need to be aware of any signs of anxiety, depression, or loneliness. The way you react to their empty syndrome will help your younger, <a href=\"https:\/\/kidsrkids.com\/avalon-park\/programs\/pre-k-childcare-program\/\">VPK age<\/a>, children.<\/p>\n<h2>Here Are A Few Things To Help<\/h2>\n<p>\u25cf Communication: There is no better way to deal with family issues than to identify them and talk about them. If you are feeling a loss, so are your other children. Let your children know that it is very normal to miss their siblings. Let them know when they will be home for a visit. Mark it on the calendar so they can keep track.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Use technology: If the older child is at college or a boarding school, take a virtual tour. Show them on the website a map of where their dorm is. Where they eat lunch and dinner. Where the gym is so they can exercise. Point out all the places that you may think that your older child may visit. Seeing will help the younger sibling to get a better idea of where the older sibling is. This can assure them that he is in a safe place.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Facetime: Plan a weekly call so the entire family can touch base. The anticipation of the call will bring some excitement into the week.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Routine: Try to keep some of the same routines that you had when the family was together.
